The renowned contemporary textile art triennial 9th EQT arrives in Finland for the first time! Organized by the Max Berk Textile Collection in Heidelberg, the exhibition brings a selection of top-tier European patchwork artworks to the Finlayson area in Tampere. The exhibition is open from January 17th to February 15th, 2026.


The 9th EQT (9th European Quilt Triennial) consists of high-quality modern textile and quilt artworks created in Europe and selected through a juried competition. The jury chose 45 works for the exhibition that opened in Heidelberg in 2025, including the Finnish artists Marita Lappalainen’s piece ‘A House’ and Leena Illukka’s ‘Touch’. During 2025, the 9th EQT has toured in Germany and Switzerland.

27.1.2026 Indigo pop-upOn Tuesday, exhibition visitors got to follow the indigo dyeing process from preparing the dye vat to dyeing. The most eager participants also got to try dyeing themselves. The day was filled with fascinating conversations about indigo and other natural dyes, captivating traditions, and the importance of making with your hands. 6.2.26 Crafting - Creativity and thinking with your hands
The discussion brought together Kikka Jelisejeff, designer Development Manager at the Finnish Crafts Organization, textile artist Nanna Aspholm-Flik, and passionate hobbyist Marita Lappalainen. The discussion explored their own relationship with handicrafts, the significance of making things, and handicrafts as an art form.

8.2.26 How to-Textiles and Makers
brought together textile makers, entrepreneurial practices, and craft heritage. Over the course of the day, speakers addressed local production, shared workspaces, and the history and contemporary interpretations of the ryijy. The programme offered perspectives on textile making, expertise, and authorship across different scales.
